I decided to make a page dedicated to the tools and resources I use for the Corgi Guide blog.
I’ve been receiving many emails from you asking me questions about how to get started with a pet’s blog. Hence, this resources page was born. This list will be continuously evolving as I find and use different resources. Please note that I will only include the tools I’ve used and tested, so rest assured that I won’t recommend something that I personally believe it doesn’t worth it.
Disclaimer: Please note that some of the links below are affiliate links and I will earn a commission if you purchase through those links. I use all of the products listed below and recommend them because they are companies that I have found helpful and trustworthy. If you have any questions about anything listed below, I will be more than happy to discuss them with you and find the right tools to get you started!
BlueHost – BlueHost is one of the best hosting companies I’ve ever used. They offer a slick and easy way to get up and running with your blog on WordPress. Bluehost has free domain name registration, is amazingly affordable, and is the perfect place to start. They have excellent customer support and your site will remain live as long as you want it to. They are an A+ web hosting company. And now a great offer! Because I’ve been a good customer of BlueHost, you will get a discount on your monthly subscription if you purchase any plan via one of my links here. As you see, you get get your hosting plan for only $3.95 per month! Again, if you have any questions, I’ll be happy to further discuss them with you and get your pet’s blog up and running in no time.
The Genesis Framework – The Genesis Framework is what is currently running on Corgi Guide. Genesis is the framework used by some of the web’s most popular bloggers. Without Genesis Framework, my site’s loading time was 5 times longer than it is at the moment. It makes a huge difference using it. With Genesis, you’re going to want to purchase the Framework ($59.95) along with a child theme (prices vary). Think about your blog as a car. The framework is everything that has to do with the mechanics and body of the car and the theme is the paint and rims and everything that has to do with the appearance. Now, with the Genesis Framework, you car is probably going to become a Sports Car.
The Magazine Theme – As indicated, this blog runs the Genesis Framework and if you decide to use it, you will need a child theme. The child theme that the Corgi Guide is running on is the Magazine Pro Theme. There are many more child themes to choose from and the company StudioPress will surely have something that matches your taste and desires. Every child theme is customizable if you want to get your hands dirty with coding. We’re talking about unlimited possibilities.
NameCheap – NameCheap is on of the biggest domain registration companies you can find. I’ve been using them for many years now and CorgiGuide.com is no exception. This domain is also registered with NameCheap and I couldn’t be happier with them. The registration process is a piece of cake and their support second to none. Because of my long relationship with NameCheap, you will get a very good discount if you register a domain via one of my links here. So, why not save some money on this as well?
WordPress – Without Wordress, this blog and many others wouldn’t exist. The wordpress platform is what gives this website life. It’s one of the easiest platforms I’ve ever used for blogs. It’s ease of use and the support from the community is excellent. Anyone can start blogging and even if you don’t have money to host your own blog, there’s no need to worry. You can still do that by starting your blog at wordrpress.com
Mailchimp – Mailchimp is the email marketing software I’m using for Corgi Guide subscribers. It’s the easiest email marketing software I’ve ever used so far. I use it to collect email subscribers as well as send my email marketing campaigns whenever I post a new article.
